Smart design creating quality affordable housing in the inner west of Sydney.
The recently constructed three-storey development (approved under the provisions of the NSW Affordable Housing Policy) provides 20 self-contained rooms close to public transport and established parks.
Bordering a heritage conservation area and surrounded by three and four storey residential buildings the development was designed to sit amongst the existing built form in a non-obtrusive manner.
The materials include face brick work, sandstone, rendered base elements, feature blade columns, aluminum framed windows and doors, privacy screening and terracotta roof tiles. Large volume rainwater tanks were also incorporated to catch and reuse the roof water within the development.
